Seems kind of telling, I think, that the only activity this forum seems to get, besides updates from Gene, is spam… I still believe that would drastically improve if Gene could manage to reduce the ads on the online/podcast version of the show.

Just wondering: Would it be kosher for a listener of the podcast version of your show to edit it (removing section breaks and tightening up silent pauses) and make it available for other listeners? Or would you, or the radio network, have problems with this? Here’s an example of what I mean.

There seems to be a glitch in the latest episode. At 1:21:43 I hear Gene saying: At first I thought it was just me because I do stuff to each episode in Audacity before listening (for me, this was at 41:17), but I checked, and this is in the original. Can it be fixed?

I still don’t understand what the network’s schedule has to do with the podcast versions. They’re not on a network; they’re on my iPod, with no need to fill a time slot. I dunno. Maybe if the network had someone tech-savvy who could explain that stuff to them, like someone who hosted a show...

Personally, I think the show’s got enough advertisers… but my thoughts on that matter are already posted elsewhere on this forum. Really though, I’m all for more sponsors, if their spots would only play once per show.

What I mean is, they’d probably have more potential listeners if the abundance of ads didn’t make the podcasts so annoying to listen to. Note nearly every negative review of your podcast, for example. But apparently it’s not up to you, and I doubt the network would listen to a random internet...

Just ignore the ad-centric criticism, then, or pass it on to the network—it would probably be good for them to rethink how they do podcasts. Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with being an Apple fanboy, as long as you’re not blinded by it (and you generally don’t seem to be). But...
