It's very common these days for tech pundits to proclaim that the Mac will soon suffer from the very same bouts of malware that inflict the Windows platform.
My take on this is that it's just not so. While Mac OS X is no more immune to viruses than other Unix-based operating systems, so far all we've seen are proofs of concept. Whether the Mac isn't targeted because the criminals who create such things are simply acting out of the fact that they hate Microsoft doesn't matter.
In my opinion, it will happen some day, but there's no reason to panic right now, although some would prefer otherwise.
