HP Printer Driver Updates

Software Update had an update available for hp printer driver version 2.4.1
When I check my HP Utility for Device Information for the Driver Version it says: HP Inkjet Driver 3.1
So why did I install the new driver version 2.4.1?
This version numbering is totally confusing.
Are you supposed to do an uninstall before downloading a new driver version?
Even after downloading and installing 2.4.1 (successfully BTW) HP Utility still says the driver is 3.1.
Where did 2.4.1 go?

The version number Apple is using is for a package of drivers, not just one. So each may actually have a different version number attached to it. No problem.

The version number Apple is using is for a package of drivers, not just one. So each may actually have a different version number attached to it. No problem.
